  37. The  condition is to copy the COMPLETE and  UNCHANGED contents of the folder 
  38. IDEALIST.3_2  (For   a   list   of  contents  please read CONTENTS.TXT). The

  46. What is Idealist For?
  47. ---------------------
  48. IdeaList  is a simple yet versatile tool used to print  out  ASCII files and 
  49. files  in  WORDPLUS  FORMAT.  This  when  used  can  save up to 80% of paper 
  50. consumption. Also  when you use this program because it has a PRINTER driver 
  51. exclusive  to  your own printer you can control all of your printer fuctions 
  52. and  you can also print the files in better quality. In other words it takes 
  53. all the hard work out of printing files.

  56. Features
  57. --------
  58. - There are four different kinds of font size selectable.
  59. - Text  can be printed in up to 9 columns (IdeaList  will automatically sort 
  60.  out the text)
  61. - Lines that are too long will be corrected automatically.
  62. - Separated output of front and back pages.
  63. - Editable  headline (You can edit this so it will show the name of the file 
  64.  or  date  and show the present date of time and also the page number or you 
  65.  can select that no header is printed.
  66. - All margins are adjustable.
  67. - Line  numbering option (Each line can be numbered so you can keep track of 
  68.  split up lines.).
  69. - Simple  adaption  to  every  printer  by  an  editable ASCII file (If your 
  70.  printer  is  one  of  the printers not included then it is just a matter of 
  71.  modifying the file and there are not a lot that are  not included.).
  72. - Download  fonts  can  be used by Laserjet and dot matrix compatibles (More 
  73.  details about this below.).
  74. - Separate  management  of  continuous and single feed  paper (Both types of 
  75.  paper are catered for.).
  76. - Chain  mode (This saves paper by not feeding to the end of the page at the 
  77.  end of every file printed. This will save space on small files   printed.
  78. - Skip  page  mode  (Using this you can decide at the start  of  the page if 
  79.  you want to print it or not).
  80. - Selecting the amount of pages and stop at every time.

  83. Features of comfort
  84. -------------------
  85. - All commands can be activated by mouse of keyboard (For the keyboard there 
  86.  are shortcuts)
  87. - Page  preview  with your chosen layout (You can preview what the page will 
  88.  look  like  on  the screen before you print it and also the mouse will turn 
  89.  into  a magnifying glass and you can zoom in on any line of the text and it 
  90.  will be displayed in the menu bar)
  91. - Saving  and  loading  of your own personal setup (Like save desktop on the 
  92.  GEM  desktop  you  can position the dialog boxes  etc.. and then save it so 
  93.  it is like that when you load the program  next time)
  94. - Loading  a  new  adaption file (you can switch between adaption files very 
  95.  easy).
  96. - Show  file (Similar to double clicking on the desktop, you can show a file 
  97.  to the screen just as you would on the desktop.
  98. - Direct  link  to  your favourite editor program (If you have a text editor 
  99.  then  you can call it directly from IdeaList when you want to type and then 
  100.  when you have finished exit directly back to IdeaList)
  101. - Shell fuction to call further programs
  102. - Statistics of the text file in memory (Size, Number of Pages etc..)
  103. - Install  application  (IdeaList  can  be installed from the desktop to run 
  104.  when a text file is double clicked.)
  105. - Clipboard  Function  (The  texfile  in  memory  can  be  saved  to the GEM 
  106.  clipboard.)
  107. - JOKER  button  (This  button  is reserved so you can add  your own printer 
  108.  function (Bold, Italic etc.)

  111. Accessory Version
  112. -----------------
  113. There  is  also  a  desktop  accessory version of IdeaList called ILIST.ACC, 
  114. which has virtully the same amount of features as the program version except 
  115. for the following.

  117. - Keyboard Usage (All fuctions are controlled by the mouse)
  118. - Disk Output (Files cannot be saved to disk)
  119. - Clipboard Interface (Text cannot be saved to the GEM Clipboard)
  120. - Calling  other  programs (You cannot call other programs allthough you can 
  121.  be inside a GEM program when you use the ACC version.
  122. - Editor  Link  (There  is no link to a text editor because as above you can 
  123.  call it inside a text editor)
  124. - Line magnification (Text cannot be previewed with the mouse)
  125.  
  126. This  does  not run in resolutions of 640 * 200 pixels or less . It can only 
  127. run  in  ST  High  resultion  (or  better)  allthough  it  can run in all TT 
  128. resolutions no less that the size above.

  130. However  there  are  some  features  that  are  only  available with the ACC 
  131. version, they are as follows.

  133. - It can be called in every GEM application with the  menu bar present.
  134. - Printing  in  the  background:   All  text  when printing is spooled while 
  135.  working  with  another  program (You can get on with whatever you are doing 
  136.  while the computer is printing.).
  137. - Interface to some other programs (Gemini, CLIPBOARD.ACC, 1st View/Guide)

  140. Constraints
  141. -----------
  142. IdeaList  runs  with  every  TOS and ST MEDIUM and HIGH resolution and every 
  143. resolution mode of the TT with a minimum of 640 * 200 Pixels.  IdeaList will 
  144. work  with  Overscan  and  the  SM194 big screen monitor etc.. IdeaList uses 
  145. above  200  K  Bytes  of  RAM not including text. It works with parallel and 
  146. serial interface printers.

  149. Starting up for the first time
  150. ------------------------------
  151. When  starting  up  the  resource files must be in the same directory as the 
  152. program  you  will  need IDEALISC.RSC if you are using IdeaList in colour or 
  153. IDEALISM.RSC  if  you  are  going  to  use  mono. When you start up the file 
  154. IDEALIST.INF  must  NOT  Exist!!  This  file  is  created  by  clicking save 
  155. parameters  or when exiting IdeaList. If it does contain one then it will be 
  156. totally  wrong and  will probably install the wrong printer. If the standard 
  157. IDEALIST.INF  file  does  not  exist then IdeaList will look for the DEFAULT 
  158. IDEALIST.IDA which contains the general settings.

  161. Other Functions
  162. ---------------
  163. The boxes of the desktop can be moved by clicking and holding the left mouse 
  164. button at the 'fly' buttons.
  165. All  Dialog  boxes  are  moveable by dragging the "move" button at the upper 
  166. right  corner of the box. If you also press a shift, <ALT> or <CONTROL> key,
